When it comes to what’s under the front hood, the 2022 Chevy Equinox and the 2022 GMC Terrain have a lot in common. Standardly, both models are equipped with peppy 1.5L turbocharged engines. As such, both SUVs also offer identical output numbers with 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque.
Thanks to all this power and other optional equipment, both the Equinox and the Terrain can tow up to 1,500 pounds of trailer weight. The Equinox takes performance one step further, though, with an EPA-estimated 26 city/31 highway MPG. The Terrain only earns an EPA-estimated 25 city/30 highway MPG.
Inside both the 2022 Chevy Equinox and the 2022 GMC Terrain, you’ll find five spacious seats, including more than 40 inches of front legroom. You’ll also get plenty of space for all your cargo, starting with 29.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row of seats in the GMC and 29.9 cubic feet under the same conditions in the Chevy.

The Chevy Equinox offers a few extra features starting with an available 120-volt power outlet. The Terrain only offers a 110-volt power outlet, so it can’t offer the same type of charging abilities.
