Helping Families with Their Needs
The Ronald McDonald House in Columbus features 137 guest rooms, which makes it the largest one in the world. This state-of-the-art facility is just a few steps away from the Nationwide Children’s Hospital and provides stability to mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters. The Ronald McDonald House is here to provide stability and a place to stay for as long as their child is receiving treatment at the hospital.
It’s important for children who are hospitalized to have their parents and families within reach. Therefore, the house is open 365 days a year. Families are provided with comfortable bedrooms and private baths, fully furnished kitchens, play rooms, laundry facilities, a meditation room, and exercise room.
There are also specialized care suites for a child’s chemotherapy or post-transplant care. Also, almost every evening, a home-cooked meal is provided to ensure guests feel like they are at home.
Volunteering with RMHC of Central Ohio
If you would like to help give back, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio offers several volunteer opportunities. While some of these opportunities may be limited due to COVID-19, there are still ways to get involved.
Housewarming, craftsmen, and front desk volunteers are always needed. Help those who are moving into the house by making a meal for them. Meal volunteers can give visitors that feeling that they’ve found a home, even though it may be temporary.
At-home volunteers can have an impact, too, by making snack packs or welcome blankets. For more information about current opportunities, get in touch with RMHC.
