Their Vision, Mission & Commitment

Save EnergyThe Ohio Environmental Council has a vision for the future for Ohio and the planet as a whole where diverse people, innovation, and our natural treasures can thrive in harmony and in good health.

This multi-faceted organization is constantly working on a variety of projects to better the environment in the state. By working diligently to create an example in Ohio, they hope to light a fire of passion in the rest of the world and create a worldwide impact on the planet.

What They’re Doing to Create Change

The urgency surrounding climate change flared up not long after the founding of the Ohio Environmental Council in 1969. In the last 50 years, the Ohio Environmental Council has done everything they can to create positive change for the environment, starting with legislature.

In addition to their numerous campaigns to create written law for the benefit of the planet, they also:

  • Clean WaterRun clean water campaigns to ensure plentiful clean water resources
  • Public lands protection strategies to preserve the wilderness left in Ohio
  • Building renewable energy resources to power the state and beyond

They also run a number of campaigns to get the public interested and involved. For instance, their Take a Hike campaign encourages Ohio residents to get out and experience Ohio’s public parks. Renewed interest in these wild areas will prevent the Ohio House from selling them to the gas and oil industries.

How You Can Get Involved!
